Explanations

Question:
Being curious about the Day of Judgement, I have been picking through Islamic literature and media. I have seen many videos on youtube video by MUSLIMS linking Dajjal to the event that is predicted to happen by the Mayans in 2012. Many of these video’s use verses from the Qu’ran to support their theories… Are reasoning’s like this allowed in Islam? I mean who are we to question the infinite wisdom of Allah?

Is believing in evolution shirk?

Answer:
Praises are to Allah and peace and blessings on prophet Muhammed.

For these theories about Dajjal and predictions, one has to sort
out what is mentioned in the authentic texts and narrations, and what is
conjecture. What you find is usually a theory starts out with a text,
then additional things are added on afterwards.

It is encumbant to listen to the explanation of our reputable scholars
who have researched these texts in detail, and come up with a conclusion
based on knowledge, not on interjections of other material that have no
basis in faith. Also it is encumbant not to mix the authentic narrations
with things that are whims.

Explanations are allowed, if they are relaying the
statements of our predecessor ulema, and not adding any
personal views or opinions or ideas. One should learn these
explanations from our previous ulema to have a proper understanding
(fiqh). These explanations will remove one’s false and wrong
conceptions. In fact the real people of knowledge may state something
that would appear to be their explanation, but in fact is relaying what
they learned from their teachers going back to prophet Muhammed, may Allah’s
peace and blessings be upon him. The explanantions would be explaining
the same knowledge expressed with different words. These explanations
are also a therapy for the mind and will remove the sicknesses of the mind,
like stress, anxiety, depression, etc.

One should be eager to learn these explanations from our ulema, and
not be averse to them. The ulema are the inheritors of
prophet Muhammed, may Allah’s peace and blessings be
upon him, and teach people Allah’s religion. It does
require effort to train oneself to be devoted to and inculcate
this beneficial knowledge, and remove ones own personal ideas.
May Allah open us to learn from our noble ulema, and allow us to
spread this beneficial knowledge. Amin.

“Evolution” is term used to mean repulsiveness to belief
and faith. One should not have this feeling, but rather listen
to the ilm. One should devote themselves to the ulema
and have the correct understanding. One should have
a firm belief in Allah and not disassociate themselves from
the ulema.

May Allah reward you much with goodness for asking your question,
please do ask more questions in the future. I pray that Allah
benefit you with the knowledge.

And Allah knows.

Shaikh Sajid
